Until 2003, the BCS used a "stregnth of schedule" component that is exactly what is being described in this thread. It wasn't weighted as heavily as the polls or the computers, and was dropped because it kept media favorite USC out of a title game berth.

that's my point - that computers are programmed by human, using variables and weighting that humans decide on. Some people might think margin of victory is important, but not others. SOS. Home or road. Statistical control of the game. Injuries to important players. Weather. Etc, etc, etc.

And nobody will ever agree on these, so the argument would continue forever.
