Christmas bonuses

Those "Christmas bonuses" arent given to people because they're Christian, companies would be sued to hell if they gave bonuses based on religious beliefs. Those bonuses are typically just bonuses for being with the company throughout the year. They're given before Christmas because its toward the end of the year, and because most people could use the extra cash for Christmas shopping. But it's not mandated that the bonus be used for Christmas shopping, but it just so happens that it's what its frequently used for, hence the name.

Christmas bonuses (does any company even call them that now?) are more based off the end of the fiscal year and a company can give out bonuses based on last years profits. If the fiscal year started in January, you would get it after Christmas.
