Defensive Scheme

I haven't necessarily been in the "Aranda's hiding our defense" camp, but it was pretty clear that something was different Saturday night. It started with Delpit playing much more in the box; this is clearly where he benefits this defense the most IMO since you can blitz him or show blitz and let him sink into coverage. I assume the combination of his ankle injury and the lack of depth at safety are the only reasons why we haven't seen this much until now, but with Hampton's emergence, it seems Aranda is comfortable moving him around now. At one point we were in a nickel or dime and had Grant playing what looked like to be middle linebacker. I was like a giddy little kid watching it. Besides that, it seemed like we were way more creative with our blitzes. I also really enjoyed seeing Stingley blitz. That is part of his game that I feel like could be deadly with his athleticism. And don't get me started on Marcel... Future looks reeeally bright for him. This was the defense I expected to see and believe Aranda will keep being aggressive from here on. Just a nobody's two-cents on a statement game from the defense!

Its been really nice to see our Defense make the adjustments over these last two games. Excited to see how we match up against UGA!

Tl;Dr version: OP is happy that Hampton has emerged and that it allows delpit to play in the box more. We're better blitzing now too. OP likes.

Our best lineup, which thankful we are playing a team like UGA that won’t spread us out, is three safeties with Delpit and Stevens in the box and Hampton over the top.

Load up the box to stop the run.
Make Fromm beat you.

Tbh, Aranda's defense is tailor made to stop this UGA offense. Seeing 1 and 2 wide sets from UGA is going to have Dave salivating like he was back in his B1G days.
