I've been eating very low carb since May and I feel great, but in labs last week my total cholesterol and LDL were through the roof. Triglycerides were low enough (75), suggesting that this is the ok LDL. But damn, maybe it's eating too much cheddar cheese. Any wisdom on low carb diet spiking LDL?

Yes your way of viewing cholesterol is antiquated.

Put a much greater emphasis on your Trig/HDL ratio. Under 4 is ok, under 2 is ideal. Getting it 1/1 or lower is golden. However, take it all with a grain of salt. The numbers change hr to hr and depends on the amount of energy you have moving around your body. Massively increasing calories of a low carb diet will shun your trigs and raise you hdl. It is a fascinating aspect I look forward to future studies on.
