Who are the Free Masons and what are their goals?

Everytime I ask about Freemasons online, there would some random Freemason popping out of no where and saying that it's a club for old men who like to drink and play golf. Now, that's a bunch of baloney if I ever heard one.

This is basically the truth. They sometimes engaged in charitable fundraising to keep the ruse up, lest the hatchet wounds they married catch on. The agenda for most meetings entailed heavy drinking and enthusiastic Playboy exchanges.
That's what it was when my grandfather was a member.

It' a club for old and some young men who know old men and or happen to be sons of old men to go to a place where everybody knows everybody to play golf and drink. Mostly drink. And it's open when others are closed. How do I know. I am one. Sorry to pop your conspiracy bubble.

Once you start moving up the ranks it's it becomes very cultish with secret oaths, rituals, and pledges.

So what do those 33 degree members do?

Dude, do you even National Treasure?

Drink and play golf and sometimes become Shriners for the cool hats and little cars for parades

Except no golf. Just drinking.

Like many things in this world, the first question is what was it and the next is what is it. For everything from Chick-Fil-A on down to the SBC the two answers are usually different.

Side note - alcohol is pretty much across the board banned at blue lodge functions (within the US), and although I know some brothers who like to golf, it’s pretty rare that we get together for that purpose.

You would have to be invited to join to get the real answers to your question. However, I have studied up on it a bit prompted probably by the movie National Treasure. They have a long, long history and today's Mason's have little similarity to the Stone Masons of eons ago. Some pretty bizarre rituals and secrecy out the wazoo. Interesting though.
If you are serious about your inquiry, we studied a book in Sunday School a long time ago and it may be out of print or several editions from what we used but there is a pretty short book that covers several cultish like groups; Fast Facts about False Teachings. Pretty quick read.

That's only for a tiny minority and is an old, old tradition. 99.9% or more have basically made a pledge to the Lodge and go for the fraternization, fellowship and a safe place to drink among friends.

Masons don’t allow alcohol in the lodge.

Watch some of those Mormon ritual secret recordings. Pretty similar to Mason shite.

The people that say this are low level masons (ie they are distractions used by the real masons). Most masons are in the Blue Ranks, the first 3 degrees. The Scottish Rite has 30 additional degrees. This is where the real powerbrokers reside. The people that claim to be masons on this board are like the low level employees at Enron. They are just there; they are not involved in the actual activities and direction of the organization. Do you think the people with the real power in Enron told the secretaries and janitors about their fraudulent actions?
You can find videos on youtube of masonic rituals. There are also several books that dive into the subject. They certainly do not show that it is merely a social club for old fogeys.

That's because at certain levels, and this is my understanding, the higher ups are given support to start splinter cults.
I believe most of the cult founders in the US were higher 33rd types such as Charles Russell(Jehovah's Witnesses), Joseph Smith and Brigham Young(Mormons), L Ron Hubbard(Scientology)...my understanding is all of them were given backing to set up shop for these groups.

Do tell, what is it you think we’re doing in our meetings?
Some of y’all talk like we’re holding something equivalent to the Wannsee conference in our meetings.
