NJ FOID. Firearms Owners ID Card. DeFacto registration that they want to make nationwide. They know if and how many guns you have in a database and then they can come get them.

That's the beauty of red flag laws. You don't need any actual evidence, just feelings.

Now you know why progressives love red flag laws so much.

I mean it's a carte blanche excuse to seize firearms from pretty much anyone. The argument is already being floated that all vets suffer from PTSD of some sort, so vets really shouldn't be allowed to own firearms. For safety reasons of course.

NJ has strict gun registration. It shouldn't be hard to check the database.
In Maryland they ask about guns if a parent dies...they must be registered, and the heir pass a background check before the legacy is legally able to be passed on.

More importantly, if registration is required to legally own firearms the government can just refuse your registration request for "reasons".

Like other bad laws, we need someone clean, who doesn't have any skeletons in their closet, to be prosecuted to gain standing. Then they need to have enough time, $$$, and resources to put up a good challenge to overturn it.

You can bet states are selectively enforcing this and other laws to avoid successful challenges.
