It depends on your definition of "great hire." My take (right now), O is not a "great" hire. Right now he is a good hire. Time will tell if he is a "great" hire.

Time or results?
Why time and not results?
Would LSU be where they’re at now with Tom Herman driving this truck? Or Jimbo?

It’s interesting that our old posts on the Coaching Changes Board are now searchable again.
Yes, I said he had earned consideration as the permanent head coach and that he is a better coach now than when he was at Old Miss. I also suggested that if he got a good offensive coordinator we could be fine.
I’m glad I was correct, not for me but just because I really like where the program is now.

No I’ll admit my history on it. When he was first hired I thought it could work, I wasn’t convinced but I took up for him and defended him the entire first season, even after Troy. I liked the idea of a Ra Ra, recruiter who saved money to hire the best coordinators, kinda like a Bobby Bowden template. But when he fired Canada, the way he went about it and the smear campaign that followed just lost me. I come from a coaching family a lot of my closest friends are coaches and you just don’t do what he did. So I’ve flip flopped on O pretty much every season so far. But I’ll admit when I started basing him it was for personal reasons and that’s not objective.

Even after it’s been said that Canada was basically going rogue? Why do you keep a coach like that?

I did for sure. So did many cormer players from the 80’s and 90’s

Here’s my comments back then. Thread
I’d have to say I nailed it.

I’m not sure what you mean by going rogue? But no matter what happened between the two guys as a coach you don’t make a guy sign an NDA then open up a smear campaign immediately after. And what’s worse is the stories aren’t true, you can go online and you won’t find any stories about Canada having trouble anywhere else. But regardless you just don’t do that.

I hated Les Miles and had a lot of faith in O. This was always the perfect place for him.

Aranda was carrying the program for 3 years. So there’s a huge revenge angle to all of this.

Here are some Madking gems
Here he is bashing someone vclaimng Brady's offense would be run at LSU

He didn’t admit it he blamed Canada for everything he even constructed a dishonest smear campaign in the press to blame Canada. And Canada wasn’t even his idea he didn’t go out and hire Canada the AD did because Orgeron has refused to hire any OC besides Ensminger, he’s even lied about contacting and offering other OCs.

Pahahaha when you grow up and join reality you’ll look back on these posts and laugh just as hard as I am now.

never seen a HC make so many promises every year and ask his assistants to push this propaganda with him. Why not just give us results? Every off season is filled with these grandiose promises that never come to pass and then it’s all repeated the entire next spring and summer. Orgeron is in the wrong profession, he should’ve been a politician.
quote:
That’s not a knock against Wade and the hoops team, they’re already a better program than Ed Orgerons bunch. In 2 years Wade’s group has accomplished more than the football program has in nearly a decade and even after an attempted coup Wade doesn’t seem to be slowing down while Orgeron doesn’t seem capable of winning his division.

The head coach decides who starts on both sides of the ball. Anyone who knows anything knows this and Orgeron has even made comments proving it. You know who, as usual, doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

mean just this afternoon this clown said that Ed Orgeron was easily a better coach than Jimbo Fisher. Just think about that for a second lol. And Buckeye isn’t alone, Projection-Rog said the only coaches better were Saban, Dabo and Riley

But like I said I’m a fan he coaches my team, it should be about results but I let a personal situation that I’m not 100% clued into slant my opinion and that’s not objective. If I wouldn’t know coaches and have coaches in my family it wouldn’t have mattered to me one bit so it shouldn’t matter to me.

This is One team one heartbeat. He had to go.
those that don’t like O have tried to separate aranda from the rest of the team since day 1.
Saying stuff like O doesn’t get credit for the d success because aranda was here when he got here
O only has his job bc of aranda defense.
We had to give aranda head coach in waiting title to keep him bc he was going to be taking over after O (this one is my favorite and is not brought up nearly enough)

I did too because college football is 90% recruiting and 10% coaching. Saban has been saying that for years. O is a great recruiter and that’s all you need!

Not only irrelevant but out of context. You can keep trying to ride my coattails but as you can see I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong unlike you. You did quote one thing correctly and I’ll repeat it “grow up little boy.”

Yeah, you’re no where near a position where you can call someone stupid. Many, many times you’ve been hear trashing the frick out of the coaching staff.
