I would think it is easy to recruit against Saban today. I mean just say to the recruits, have you looked at Saban lately? I mean he looks so tired, so warned down, and so old. Why go play for him when he's likely going to retire in a year or two? He isn't going to be around for much longer. As he can easily make millions of dollars being a television personality and it is a lot easier on his body. As Saban's body just can't handle all the stress of being a head coach any longer like it used to in the past. Which is why he looks so tired, so warned down, and so old today. As he is going to retire any day now.

quote:I'm pretty sure select coaches are saying such things to select coaches. Yeah, it's negative recruiting.... so what. I love it. Roll Tide What? frick You! It makes a nice contrast with the high-energy Orgeron and young Brady/Aranda.

More than direct references to Saban, however, they will be pounding the assistant carousel over there. Most recruits have a closer bond/contact with their position coach (or designated recruiter). That turnover is a big deal IF the 'shine' is knocked off Saban. In the past they've been able to say 'don't worry about the DC change, we have Saban'. If even a little bit of that sparkle is gone, that loses most of it's effect.
