Why is someone carrying this at 3:15 am?

It’s got a short half-life, if the jeenuses don’t mess with it quickly, they’ll be alright.
The real question is the judgment of the driver to be stopping at a gas station at that time IN JACKSON MISSISSIPPI!

Source 1 had an activity of 6000.627 mCi
Both of these are linked to the fact that it's an F-18 source. F-18 has a half life of about an hour and a half and decays into stable oxygen. So, they send out a metric frickton of radioactivity out at 3:15AM. At 4:45 AM, it's half a metric frickton. At 6:15 AM, it's a quarter frickton. By the time you dose the first patient at 7:45, there's only a eighth of the original frickton left. By the time the patient has lunch, there's only 3% of the original activity left. By the time the patient has dinner, there's basically no radioactivity left; it's all decayed into oxygen.
Or something like that.
