Coach O has proven that your dialect doesn't equate to low IQ.

All the fools who were quoting him saying "yawbaw sho benuf" and other dumb crap and calling him a shrimp boat captain because of how he sounds when he speaks are the type of people who stereotype without all the evidence. The evidence is in. Our coach is awesome and smart and surrounds himself with good coaches and people. Don't hate.

Are you saying shrimp boat captains have a low IQ?

If you had to guess which team O was coaching, without knowing, most people would say LSU. He fits us so well, and yesterday proved that he knows what he's doing.

Coach O is quite actually genius. He lures people into thinking he’s some dumb backwater guy, but in reality, he’s quite far from that. His work ethic is stupendous, and his passion is beyond compare, but his real secret weapon is that he is NOT SELFISH, and doesn’t have to feed some ego that is bigger than life itself. I can say the same for Steve Ensminger as well. I know Brady gets a tremendous amount of credit, and deservingly so, but let’s not forget Steve. There simply aren’t many OC in this country willing to share the seat and the glory that goes with it with a guy who’s easily young enough to be his son. It takes a special person, and a special love for LSU to do that, and it needs to be said.

It's not like he even says stupid shite. Les Miles talked way more funny than Coach O. Coach O just has a crazy gravelly voice.

It’s more about EQ than IQ. He has both. IQ delivers ideas. EQ inspires execution and greatness.

He in no way has proven this.

Agreed 100%. Coach O, if you actually listen to the SUBSTANCE & CONTENT of what he says, is obviously an intelligent guy.

Same thing happened to Sylvester Stallone when he was younger. Because his real-life voice sounded a lot like Rocky, some people assumed he wasn't too bright. I was always like, "Come on, people. Stallone created that character and wrote the screenplay. He's a smart guy."

You can be extremely football smart and have a high football IQ and not necessarily be book smart. The two or a false equivalency. Added to say, I’m not saying that Coach O is not smart or Booksmart I’m just saying it’s not the same kind of smart.

I’ve talked to some really intelligent people from down the bayou that you wouldn’t have guessed with their Cajun drawl.

Dialect, yes. Vocabulary & eloquence are definitely indicative of intelligence though. CEO is actually a fine public speaker & his interviews make more sense to me than anything I ever heard Les say lol — that dude was far more out there than O has ever been, but O is viewed as more of a character because of his tone of voice I guess.

Regardless, you gotta love the guy. Easy to pull for.

Two of the smartest undergraduate students that I met at LSU didn't sound smart because of their thick accents. One was from Ferriday and the other New Iberia.

Anyone who ever tried to make that connection between dialect and intelligence is a slow learner themselves.

Loved it when an announcer said “If jambalaya could talk, that’s what it would sound like”.
