Some dude on Reddit last year posted his story as a forgotten employee.


Essentially he worked in a remote location from the rest of his department. His department got downsized and I guess they were all told in person except OP (because he didn't work in the office). HR/payroll never processed his layoff so he kept getting checks.

He knew his department got shuttered, and he stopped receiving assignments via email as he had before, but no one from the company actually told him that he was fired or anything and he still got a check twice a month.

Said he just chilled in the office, played video games and got a bunch of certifications online until he got too bored and quit about 2 years later.

Incompetency does not excuse fraud.
