The coach of his team helped pay for his move.
I’m all for dumping on the NCAA when appropriate, but they had no choice here. If not, coaches/potential coaches would start doing this all the time (or at least be less cautious about hiding it).

Yeah this is an easy decision. And if we can shite on WW all we want for a recruit who grew up 10 miles from BR but seriously go look at that 2019 Memphis class. It’s like they didn’t even try to hide cheating.

Penny did it as an AAU coach, not as the Memphis coach.
If Lavar Ball paid for a kid to move and they later went to UCLA, do they penalize the kid because Lavar had two sons play at UCLA and may be considered a booster?
