re: "Will Bama do what Auburn did on defense?" - No, they can't

No. He is saying that Auburn could only afford to run a fundamentally unsound defense (3-1-7) BECAUSE they had monsters on the DL and Bama does not have those same monsters so they can't play that defense.
Saban wouldn't even bother trying to run this defense, so that point is moot.

LSU didn't really get the run game going until the big uglies on the AU DL got tired. If Bama tried to run a 3-1-7, LSU would gash them for 8 yards a pop from the very first snap.
Alabama's linebackers and head and shoulders better than Auburn's. Again, they aren't going to try this. Davis is the best pass rusher in the league and is healthy. He's going to cause some problems even if Bama just brings 4.

That is the point of this whole thread. People thinking our offense has been figured out are ignorant because no one else in the country can run the defense needed to stop it.
Defenses have absolutely adjusted to the offense, particularly in the red zone. Auburn took a bend, don't break approach and it worked.

Look for Bama to try and run more than they normally do, Tua will be back and he won't be like he was before the injury. LSU needs to stop the run first and make Bama one dimensional, make Tua throw.

Bama doesn't have anyone like Quinnen Williams this season. The guy wreaked havoc on our OL last year which kept us from getting anything going on offense. LSU will score more than 30 this year. Just need the defense to pressure Tua/Jones consistently.

You really think that if Saban had his normal monsters on the DL he wouldn't try to run the only defense that has semi-worked on LSU?

They have 19 sacks on the season as a team, Why will Davis be able to do to LSU what their whole defense hasn't done to anyone all season? Because he caused havoc against Tennessee and Arky? Those teams aren't exactly our peers.

Auburn stopped us on a few short yardage plays because their DL is unreal. We also went super vanilla against Moo State and dropped a TD in the endzone that game.
Again, the things that AU did to stop us aren't easily replicated because they depend on having a dominant DL.

He'd do the same things he always does. Run 3-4 and 3-3-5 and let his athletes make plays in space.
He wouldn't run out a defense with 7 DBs on the regular.

Davis is the SEC sack leader, and is a better pass rusher than anyone on Auburn's defensive line.

Auburn slowed LSU down by keeping everything in front of them until the field shrunk the in red zone. Alabama will likely try something similar, they just won't have to use 7 DBs to do it. Alabama's linebackers may be young, but they're incredibly athletic just like they usually are.
Acting like Bama's defense is all of a sudden full of a bunch of 2nd rate players is dumb.

How effective will LSU be at neutralizing the gump offense?
Posted on 10/31/19 at 11:43 am to RB10
I definitely don’t see Alabama trying to stop us without Lewis on the field and he’s an OLB
I dont See them going lighter than a 3-2-6
With 1 LB being a pass rusher.

Acting like they are as good as Auburn is just as dumb.

He won't. Alabama's linebackers and secondary are both much better than Auburn's.
People saying Auburn tried to rush 3 because they could are wrong. Auburn rushed 3 because they knew their DBs couldn't keep LSU contained without going max coverage.

Better against the pass, by a wide margin.
Better scoring defense.
Better according to S&P+.
Better linebackers.
Better secondary.
Most measurables point to Alabama being the better defense.

Except for the measurable of SOS. Bama's schedule has been shite.

Yeah, we've heard Bama's SOS was weak and they're overrated before.

Only way Bama gets to the QB is to rush LBers (meaning they're rushing 5-6 guys)
Auburn pressed the receivers quite a bit and caused a lot of off timing throws. Alabama has a better secondary and will try to do the same thing.
Bama may not be as good on the DLine, but they are still very talented and they have LBs who can pass rush. They won't come out in a 3-1-7, but they will try to do what Auburn did...and that's press the receivers, and try to get pressure with 4 up front.

Do you even bother looking at stats before posting?

Oh. We've heard it before, so it can't be true.

I meant Terrell Lewis, the current SEC sack leader who players for, wait for it, Alabama.
So yes, I do check the stats.

Well, when the same people keep saying it, and Alabama keeps ending their season in the NCG, I'd say it's highly unlikely to be true.

Who's he tied with?
How many sacks did he have vs us last week?

Yeah, well people like you were making similar arguments about the offense being better this season back in July too. I mean, you want to compare stats between Bama and Auburn, but just ignore the difference between the teams they faced. That's very ignorant.
