knock down power of a .243. I've shot one for 10 years and never had an issue.

People shoot .243 all the time. Doesn't mean there aren't 80 better options for whitetails.

I see 0 reason to shoot a 25-06 over a .308 or 7mm08. My daughter is 11 and is pretty small and has been shooting a .308 since she was 9 and no complaints of recoil. We've gone the .243 route and I know many love it but im just not a fan at all. I find the .243 is a better round for experienced shooters and not kids that aren't as accurate as adults and do and will make mistakes. It just doesn't leave much room for error. 25-06 is not a bad round but why shoot a caliber where bullets aren't found at every local store? Anyone who carries any type of ammo will have 7mm08 or .308 on hand. Not always the case with a 25-06. For a kid the Ruger American Compact is a very affordable gun and very accurate.

Except that there aren't.
