bison have been roaming the prairies for millennia without being crippled by prairie dog holes. Cattle are the introduced species

many small animals are disease vectors. Crowding them into smaller and smaller territory only makes the problem worse

I see both sides of it. I don't think that native wildlife should be considered less important than livestock. I do think that some species require population control since we have upset nature's balance. I don't know enough about prairie dogs to have a strong opinion about it.
