Me: They’re mostly not that bad

abellsujr: It’s true. Us, Florida, and Auburn are more hostile, but they’re definitely still stuck-up & annoying (paraphrase)

I wish we played Bama earlier in the year with no bye week beforehand

I'm convinced the bye helps them more than it helps us

I want as little tape on this offense out there as possible

We can absolutely win. I feel better about this game than I have in almost a decade, but I know Saban is holding back with us in mind.

The source being message boards can be seen as a disclaimer in and of itself — but it at least gives you a little insight if you haven’t watched all their games.

I’d replace “isn’t a lot of valid info” with “you can’t trust everything” — doesn’t necessarily mean there’s nothing to see here. Make of it what you will

I stick by my statement. The arrogance of many of them on the SECRant makes it unbearable at times.
All fans bases have good and bad fans.

No dude, you need to focus. One game at a time.

It's fate that Bizarro Game of the Century ends in a 77-74 shootout. Game decided by three points, aggy upset that the overall score one-upped their sacred win, etc

All the bama talk imo AU is a legit concern. Trask has lit up LSU and UK but AU gave him fits and knocked him out the game. They have real speed at Wr, a solid RB, Mobile qb who is getting better. That’s the one Dline that is capable of beating our Oline up pretty good imo. They are still very much in the hunt. And they are kinda due to steal one n TS. This game has worried me since the spring for some reason. Aranda has always struggled with teams that utilize athletic qbs Gus knows this and which is why Mullen has kind of owned DA. This year it backfired because of Mullen wanting to put his athletic qb n for that reason. Gus is good at tricking the eyes. I think this will be a dog fight more than some realize.

Actually, I think the 4th quarter of the Florida game was a wake up call for our defense. I don't think Bama will score 30 on them.
actually the whole Vandy and, Texas games should have been wake up calls for the defense but they weren’t.

I think this will be a great game, but I feel just as confident about LSU in this game as I did when UF was coming in... for very similar reasons (now with a larger sample size + a common opponent):

1) LSU knows AU can get pressure from DL. They will have a plan for that, and so far you’ve got zero reasons not to trust Brady.

2) I didn’t think that Trask could lead an offense to enough points to outscore the Tigers — I will admit he blew my expectations out of the water... and still didn’t outscore the Tigers.

Some combination of the following will likely need to happen for AU to win that game:
A) Nix is going to have to play better than Trask did (tall order)
B) Gus will have to call a better game than Mullen did (another tall order)
C) the AU defense is going to have to do more than just slow down LSU’s offense — an outcome no defense has even flirted with thus far.

Unsinkable ships and all that, but the idea that LSU’s offense might be unstoppable is no longer look-aid. I realize UF had injuries, but Burrow missed on THREE PASSES.

I do think AU has a very good football team, and I think they give LSU more issues in the 1st half than UF did defensively — but I’m still taking LSU at home.

Bottom line is it would be an upset, objectively. The only game LSU will be a dog in is in Tuscaloosa — I mean, who isn’t looking forward to that?

I get it... It’s a big game + I’d be super bummed if they lost to AU. At the same time, I guarantee I’ll lose my mind over a W on Nov. 9th regardless of what happens before or after.

Since you enjoy lurking as much as I do I'll post my rebuttals:

Some takeaways:
1) Their special teams are bad
Field Goals: 10th grade bad
Punting: 8th grade bad
Punt returns: godlike, better off kicking out of bounds
Kick returns: it's 2019, ignore

2) Christian Barmore is a freshman DL who 100% of the time either creates havoc or blows his read/catches a penalty
Probably premature to say for sure

3) Their defense really struggles to get off the field on third down (sound familiar) against pedestrian offenses — so they talk about the Barmore kid getting more PT and being “the missing ingredient” the same way we talk about Marcel Brooks.
Runs on 1st down they used to get -1 to 1 yard, now they're consistently getting 3-6 yards which is the issue. Not as many 3rd and longs

4) They have put up 40+ on statistically comparable defenses to LSU’s (South Carolina, A&M)
True

5) Posters on SEC Rant & TideFans are mostly objective & respectful of opponents... these guys really aren’t that bad + probably don’t deserve the hell they catch here.
Sure why not

6) LSU/Bama teams jarringly similar this year. Elite QB play + receivers... Defense has battled the injury bug all year & given up lots of yards, but not too many points.
True

7) If fully healthy, I think I like LSU’s OL vs their DL better than Bama OL vs LSU’s DL. Some of them seem concerned with Shelvin & I gather they may have health/depth issues at Center.
I don't know if Bama will even bother trying to run enough for interior line play to matter (unless the outside guys are constantly making Tua step up)

Should be a great game.

I will be very surprised if LSU wins @ Bama. The teams appear equal in talent and coaching. However, you must always consider the Officiating factor. History has taught us that officiating will not be favorable to LSU. Expect to see holding by the Bama OLine all night, but LSU will get called on holding at a critical time.

Good chance to be a knee-bouncing, nail-biting, pulse-pounder. Here’s hoping neither team sustains any major injuries between now and then.
