It shouldn't be understated that wearing the gold/purple/gold outfit on the road is much different from wearing it at home.

I've followed LSU football religiously since the early 60s. Before the 1980s, we ONLY wore this combo on the road, because the homestanding opponent chose white unis for whatever reason (sometimes out of spite; Tulane was notorious for doing this in the 60s).

Gold/purple/gold should remain exclusively a road combo. It has historical significance in road games, and LSU has mostly played well wearing it on the road.

I quiver whenever I see it in Tiger Stadium.

Well surely you recall that it was not at all uncommon for us to be in purple jerseys for our games at Kentucky in the 70’s and 80’s.
