and last year Bama shut Burrow out in Death Valley.
Tell em! Especially since the two teams are the EXACT same two teams as last year!

Doesn't. Matter.
We beat them and we're #1.
We beat them and we're #1.

With the AP and coaches polls, the criteria is pretty much left to the individual voters. Some voters think the primary criteria should be who has the best quality wins. Some of these voters have LSU first, as LSU should be with wins over two top ten teams.
Other voters focus on who they think would be the better team on a neutral field and give more weight to historical data and program equity. Alabama has way more equity than LSU with voters, as they should. Alabama would be a touchdown favorite over LSU on a neutral field. This LSU team has the look of a team that might beat Bama, but it’s easy to understand why some voters won’t believe it until they see it.
It would only make a difference if LSU and Bama did not play each other. Since they do, how they are ranked today is meaningless. If LSU is undefeated and beats Bama at Bama, LSU will be just about every voter’s number one team.
But first it’s Miss State and then Auburn. South Carolina’s win over Georgia should be a reminder the best team doesn’t always win.

quote:Not surprised Vilma has another bad take on LSU. I don't disagree with the ranking, just the explanation.
Vilma and Jim Mora have Alabama ranked #1 because of defense... yet we are ranked #25 in total defense and Alabama is rank #36
For me, beating Bama is the most important thing this year and until we do that, I'm fine with #2.

And we have played 2 top 10 teams, while the Aggies are Bama's only notable win.

Brah, don’t you even eye test?
Yep. And right now, LSU looks like the better team.

will go berserk if Alabama pitches another shutout this year. It's making me crazy
Yeah.... that’s not happening. They aren’t playing the same old LSU offense. If they hold us under 35 I’d be surprised.
