I'm just hoping the Will Smith deal and the Grandal deal grease the wheels a little bit so we don't sit stagnant until January waiting for anything to happen.

We don't need a third straight year of stagnation to continue to build the case for a work stoppage in a couple years.

It feels like there’s a lot of teams/front offices with more urgency to win this year. White Sox, Reds, Phillies and Padres again, Mets, Angels, Rangers, plus disappointing finishes for the Yankees and Dodgers last year.

There was a lot of action last year prior to the Winter Meetings. The Winter Meetings itself was underwhelming. I don't think draft pick compensation will play a big part in the hesitancy of free agent signings this year as it did in the past. It just feels like the playing field is a bit more level and teams will be willing to do what it takes to separate themselves from the pack.
