Now that we look back after a couple unlikely victories against teams we didn't think possible we most probably will "at least" end up 4-2 during Drew's absence I think we have an even better chance going deep down the stretch and into the playoffs with a healthy an even more motivated Drew than even before the thumb issue. Look I love Drew and honestly wouldn't trade him for any player in the league also while appreciating everything he has meant to not only this organization and the city of New Orleans but I mean lets face it he is 40 now and he even showed slight signs of tailing off at the end of 2018 whether we want to believe it or not. He now has/gets to rest that shoulder and body while Teddy Checkdown pulls off a couple improbable victories while the continuity continues to grow amongst the team knowing that everyday is 110% effort while Drew is not at the Helm.
I'm a glass Half Full kinda guy...

we’ve barley won games with skin left on our asses without him.

If it wasn’t for the defense and Slutz stepping up this would be a different picture. Sweet prince can only do so much before he gets injured.

what’s amazing to me is how you can win NFL games playing dink n dunk checkdown football all because you have a defense.

That's my exact feeling. Plus you get a motivated drew on the premise that he is more appreciative of the game. He's gonna come out like a kid in a candy store. I can most definitely see this helping us more than hurting us now.

He played worse near the end of last season because he was playing injured. The organization just never said anything, but there is a clear correlation time-wise between the beginning of his drop off and a huge hit he took going after a Falcons defender who intercepted one of his passes.

We just need to figure out how to get a couple WRs to play more consistently and emerge as solid 2 and 3 guys in the meantime while getting Murray at RB to pick up more slack because lets face the real facts here if Alvin goes down for any reason its all over period. He is of equal value as Drew in this offense.

IMO, the important thing to realize about that is just that when Drew comes back, he's coming back to a team that has dealt with a hell of a lot of adversity and gotten extremely close. Pretty much all of the experts wrote off the Saints' super bowl hopes once Drew went down. Now, everyone is learning that the team is incredibly talented even without Drew, and can grind out games if needed. Even without Ingram, the Saints have some real leaders in that locker room.

You add a healthy Drew Brees to that equation.....yikes.

This isn't to say the team is without problems. WR2 is definitely an issue, and the post above about Alvin going down is absolutely correct. Ingram could've carried the torch. I'm not confident that Murray could. The offensive line penalties have to stop, but I'm pretty confident this is something CSP will get worked out sooner rather than later.

So, is Drew's injury a blessing? Probably not. That said, there are definitely positives that have come from it.

I see no blessing in having your sure-fire first ballot hall of fame QB injured and missing part of what could be his last season. The dropoff is huge and there’s little margin for error.

Blessing in Disguise obviously meaning that it could have been a severe and season ending and it wasn't. Now we should get a fresh Drew into the meat and most important stretch where before if there was any production drop off chances going of through the playoffs unscathed was very minimal.

I made a post similar to this a few weeks ago and half the idiots downvoted it into oblivion. It is a benefit for this team for Brees to be able to save his arm until later in the season though.

I like the idea of sitting Drew a few extra games as long as Teddy is winning. Let him rest up for a long run! My pappy ust to take naps from 11-2 so he can still watch the 10 o clock news

we need to make a trade for Emmanuel Sanders.
trequan at this point is a 3rd receiver and ginn is def slowing down.
we need a true number 2
it will help everyone out.
I thought Jared cook would help some

The way everyone built up Tre'Quan before last season I was sure by now he be a solid #2 by now. He hasn't lived up to the hype that's for sure.

Good thing is you have a tiebreak over both Seattle and Dallas.
Plus the Rams have a tough schedule. Still have to play Bears D, Seahawks, and at Cowboys with two losses already.

No. Dumb Dumb Dumb.

You can look for a silver lining in a bad situation and maybe that's what you mean.

But a blessing in disguise?

No.

You can call it "Silver Lining" or "Blessing in Disguise" whatever you want really. I'll choose to lean towards "Blessing in Disguise because I don't believe Drew is what he once was and feel the wear and tear over the season would cause the Team not getting to the Championship we all want. Silver Lining is more or less saying you feel Drew would have a great season all the way through with no drop off in production down the stretch. I'm not in that group.

It will wind up being a blessing in disguise only because we won in Seattle and against the Cowboys. If we hadn't it would be a disaster (probably). But since we did win, let's all be happy and excited that we have a chance to go to the playoffs with a 40-year-old QB that has 6 fewer games on his legs and arms than everyone else!

As far a this year? No way. I want Brees on the field every time. The only real positive in those terms is you get a fresh Brees for the last 9-10 games heading into the playoffs with a fresher arm.

But I have said his injury is a blessing in disguise in giving you a chance to see what you really have in Bridgewater or not. 5-6 starts to me is a good enough sample size to help you make a better decision this offseason.
