What's a good rule of thumb for expected speeds for wired vs wireless?

Title says it all.
I get that it's going to depend on a lot of factors. But if every piece of equipment (router, modem, wires, etc) is the latest and greatest, compatible etc what is a % drop I should expect without thinking I need to troubleshoot/update some of the equipment?
I'm seeing 95 down, 3 up wired vs 30 down, 2 up wireless; and I don't know if that's "typical."

Do you have the latest and greatest? If so, something is wrong in your setup.. What download speeds are you paying for?
I am getting 825 Mbps dl and 41 Mbps ul at the router. I pay for gigabit dl and 35 Mbps ul.
My phone which is 3 walls away from the router is getting 288.1 Mbps dl and 39.4 Mbps right now.

Wired I get get 775 to 800 dl and 750 ul. Phone about 320 both up and down. I have gb service and it’s nice. My Samsung tv sucked though so picked up an Apple TV and it gets around 300 up and down as well.

A good modern Router is the key to wireless, I get 200mb down and 12mb up several rooms away on wireless on Spectrum 200mb/10mb plan, it kicks up to to 240 down closer to the router

What router would you recommend? I just upgraded to ATT gig and the modem/router combo is pretty shitty.

Should I just get a Nighthawk and call it a day?

Same here, I'd like to replace the one at&t gives you.

My preference is for the modem and router to be separate. You should check with your ISP regarding compatible modems. I recommend the SB8200.
For routers, I don't use a pre-built mesh system. I have a TP-Link AC4000 as the main router because I wanted to have tri-band and MU-MIMO wifi functions. My second router is a TP-Link AC1750, and it is hardwired to the first and only acts as an access point.

Depends on your ISP plan.
Wired:
50 megabit plan - you'll see like 25-30 D/L, 10-15 U/L
100 megabit plan - you'll see 50-75 D/L, 20-30 U/L
1 gigabit plan - I get 800-950 D/L and 650-800 U/L
Wireless:
Depends on your router and how far away from it you are. You can get anywhere from the wired speeds to 0.
If I do a speed test from my phone in the same room as my router, I get 800-950 D/L and 650-800 U/L

Comcast just upgraded my plan from 150/5 to 175/5 and I'm getting 210/6 both wired and wireless.
I'm running an Arris/Motorola SB6141 modem and an ASUS RT-N66U router which are both 6 years old.

Thanks, sounds like I need to look at my router.
