I have a pic of mine. It just makes sense to me. I keep it in my vehicle with registration, etc.

In Louisiana?
The only DMV I've been to there where I didn't want to blow my brains out was the one in Ruston.

It’s not valid in the sense that you’ll avoid additional screening. But it’ll speed up the process if you can verify yourself through some official means (digital ID, student ID, work badge, etc.)

I know of one where I've never been more than ten minutes between walking in and walking out, but I'm not going to spoil it for everyone that knows where it is

Do you have a passport? And I've used my TWIC card, several times to get on flights, if you have one of those.

You have 8 hours to go to a DMV and get an ID. This shouldn't be hard to figure out

they are pretty good where I live but are completely fricked for about the next year because of the new HSA requirement that drivers license holder data must be accompanied by passport info, consequently, no more online renewals until every DL holder physically comes in to renew with a passport, thanks Osama!

From what I recall they will pull aside and verbally confirm your identity through SSN, address, credit history, etc. Also they will probably give you a secondary screening.

Happened to me in nola when I was in town for Margo Gras, this is exactly what they do. Answer a few quesrions on the phone about various public records and get a pat down. Take s a few mins longer.

Yes, you should be able to. They'll have to confirm who you are other ways and it will be a PITA getting through TSA, but you should be able to fly.
My Dad had his wallet stolen on a quick trip for a funeral one time and they let him fly back without an ID, he just had to go through extra security.

This too. Getting a valid DL would be the easiest option.
