FIBA is trying to make the World Cup bigger than the Olympics and as big as soccer. FIBA world cup still ranks fourth in importance behind the NBA, Eurobasket. And the Olympics. FIBA has played hard ball with Eurobasket and the NBA, by not working with those league's schedules (having qualifiers in season) at the expense of not having the best players commit. FIBA truly thinks it is a more important organization than the NBA and Eurobasket

Some of their guys have resented him for "being too American" going back to his decision to leave for Monteverde. Ben's stood their national team up in Rio and for this World Cup.
