Since they were 1,2 and 3 in our coaching search.

I think they are all three where they belong.

Obviously, Orgeron was the best hire because he won, and they both lost.

Not going to lie, I wanted Herman when LSU was on the coaching search and wasn’t thrilled with O. I thought Herman has done a good job at Texas but O has won me over. If he continues to recruit and go get staff like Joe Brady I am going to be happy

We couldn’t have made a better choice. But back then it looked like we settled for the worst one

Only thing that ultimately matters is which one wins conference and national titles. Too early to tell which is the best hire.

I just hope O stays aggressive in big time games like they would.

They are all good coaches and I feel they would all have more success here than at those other schools.

I don’t want O having us play timid against Alabama and I don’t want him playing conservative late in games. I would rather play confident on offense and not have to rely on the D to hold it.

I’m very content with Coach O. He’s showed constant improvement and done something that we’ve always wanted, and I don’t just mean with the offense. He’s showed he has the ability to adapt with the game of today and that he knows his weakness and goes and finds the guys that can help him and actually listen to them and allow them to help. This is exactly what Saban does! But even though Jimbo and Herman lost yesterday, they are both good coaches that played teams with more talent. I’d easily put Herman over Jimbo though.

TAMU was overmatched the second they took the field. Texas is was it is, a Big 12 offense, and a Swiss Cheese defense. LSU looked scary on offense for the first time in a long, long time.

Jimbo and Herman have shown they can coach one side of the ball very well. Orgeron doesn't have that tool, but if he hires elite coordinators, he'll be okay.

If all 3 were on the market right now, Orgeron would still likely get pick up last. However, none of that matters right now.

I think O learned after the Troy debacle when everything almost unraveled on him to let those he hires do what he brought them in to do without interfering. Orgeron knows how to recruit, we've had much-improved game management with him on the sidelines and he has been very good about identifying weaknesses and trying to improve them. LSU spent the least and is doing the best, so at this moment now LSU somehow has made out the best on their hire.

Herman took over a struggling Texas program and already has it turned around and getting even better. Jimbo had a good first year, but they looked crappy yesterday (but many teams look crappy against Clemson). We'll see how things pan out, but if LSU's normal D shows up for the rest of this year, look out.

O was the cheapest hire of the three and has 1-1 records in the octagon with the other two coaches.

Herman is a first class coach. I enjoyed watching Jimbo grimace and fume over the same type "homer" calls we got hit with last year in their win.

Difference is jimbo and Herman have one side of the ball they call the play on while coach O has to rely on his coordinator.

I’ll get blasted for asking this, perhaps deservedly so, but for discussion’s sake, has Joe Alleva been vindicated?

....from the start I sensed Herman was just using LSU in a bidding war with Texas. I was convinced Herman was a Texas lock. Of the three coaches Ed Orgeron would have been a deep third on my list (more like completely off my list). Jimbo was my choice. To be honest based on the stories I read about Ed Orgeron's antics in other coaching jobs, I thought he was bat shite crazy. That debacle with Matt Canada didn't ease my negative perception of him either. Then the Troy loss......bad bad omen.

Hey, he learned from his mistakes. Orgeron's ability to keep the meltdown with Canada and the devestating loss to Troy from derailing his coaching gig showed something to me. I kept a close watch on recruiting. Eventually I realized those players must see in Orgeron something that ignites a fire in their belly.

Bottom line. Nothing like winning to change things. A whole lot of football to be played.........but LSU is comin! Hell they've arrived!!!

Ladies and gentleman your attention please, the sun has set.........it's Saturday night in Death Valley.

Joe Alleva will never be vindicated with the embarrassment he brought to the program. Ed was his fall back guy and it worked out so far luckily for LSU
