3 Questions

1. Is our defense really suspect or did we play more carefully due to Ehlinger’s ability to run?
2. I did not see John Emery on the field. I thought seeing him in space last week, he looked more threatening than our other backs.
3. Does our strength and conditioning program need to be changed? I mean...the cramping was insane.

Don’t know about Emery but Fournette doesn’t need to be our first RB off the bench

1. No. See the first half.
2. Pass blocking. CEH was great other than the drop
3. No. IV’s for everyone next time.

Ok...smart-arse...did something happen to Emery or did I just miss him on the field tonight?
Question 2 of 3.
Question 2 of 3.

Hopefully this game is similar to the Arizona state game in 2005 where we all freaked out in Bo Pelini’s defense and we couldn’t stop their offense. Defense was pretty good the rest of the year.

I was alarmed at Texas beating us at the point of attack most of the night.
Someone said coaches wnted to just go with vets.
O said they didnt do IV's at halftime. Not sure I buy that though. Its not like he would be the first coach to ever cover for his players.

I'd say it was more of Ehlinger as a run threat although I was not happy seeing a lot of missed tackles.

Given the magnitude of this game, I think the coaches went with the veterans on RB (I understand Price was in for a series or even a down but for the most part, it was the veteran RBs) CEH was good at picking up the blitzes and was very good in pass blocking.

It was hot. Any athlete will cramp when the normal temperature is 100°+. On the field it's even hotter.
But given all that, it's the second game. The defense will get fixed. The next 2, maybe 3 games you'll see more of what you saw last week. We don't play another threatening team until Oct. 12 and we have a bye before that.
We'll be fine.

1. Yes. A mobile QB like Ehlinger will give anyone fits. We got gassed. It was hot.
2. Still a youngin. CEH played very well and put up some great blocks. Perhaps Emery is not where he needs to be with his blocking. Or maybe he doesn’t catch as well as CEH, which is where a lot of production came from.
3. Despite the opinion of many ignorant people on this board, no. Our S&C program is highly respected across the nation. It is regarded as one of the best. Many people who interned under Moffitt go on to be head strength coaches themselves and implement his teachings. Look, it was hot. Ehlinger is a great QB and our defense was asked to cover the field against a very efficient spread offense. Sometimes you just have a bad day. The defense will respond to this.

The cramping thing bothers me the most.
I think the defense can be fixed, and I think Emery will get time, but the cramping thing is weird...have not seen that kind of cramping for any other team.

#1- False Dichotomy
#2- not a question...???
#3 - I'm wondering how adrenaline affects cmuscles; seems like they were not so much unconditioned as his jacked and straining, over-extending

Cramping was rediculous. Texas fans were booing like crazy!

I'm not trying to be rude or anything but it was hot. I really think it's that simple. Big guys running around all the time, you get overheated and you'll start cramping.
And it was on artificial turf too. All those little rubber pellets that hide in the turf conduct heat as well.
I've seen it in several other games too.
Also, the weather will eventually ( ) cool off.

Any other teams playing on artificial turf in 100 degree heat? Also, Texas put together a 19 play drive. You would be amazed the toll that takes on a defense. All of our scoring drives were relatively quick. Texas’ D never had to stay on the field for too long.
