does anybody know any nice courses to play Friday in Austin before the Game?

Round Rock has some decent courses: Teravista and Avery Ranch
If you’re looking for a cheaper muni type closer in, Bluebonnet and Morris Williams greens are in really good shape right now. BB is a little shorter, but challenging from the tips. Lions is not as nice but sort of historic and fun to play.
I’d avoid Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer. They’ve been having a lot of trouble with their greens all summer.
wolfdancer is prob the nicest public course, but more towards Bastrop so a little further out.
If you can get on...Barton Creek CC and Austin CC or top notch.
Either way, be sure to ask about the greens. A lot of courses around here have been punching recently.

Our group is playing Falconhead on Friday. Have you ever played it? Seemed like a good course based on reviews and pictures.

Falconhead is usually in good shape. I haven’t played there in a couple of years, but it typically stays pretty nice.

as it's already been mentioned here, Falconhead. It's been a handful of years since played but I remember it being a fun track and in pretty decent shape.

How did everyone enjoy the golf in Austin? Falconhead was a beautiful course and was in really nice shape. Enjoyed all the elevation changes and views. Did not enjoy how long it took to play. First 3 holes took an hour. That was ridiculous.

Oddly enough, that hole was one of my highlights. I was 40 yards from the green in 2 after a good drive and second shot, then stuck a wedge to a foot. I had no clue how close that wedge was until I got up to the green since it was so far uphill.
Birdied #7 (the short par 4) as well. I won't detail the string of double bogeys I had on the back nine.

I had an absolute blast playing at Plum Creek. The course, staff, range and pace of play could not have been better! The Ladies tees were also generous - my daughter shot a 79! I will definitely play there if I go back. Green fee was $44.

Staying in Lake Travis this weekend- Best course close to Lago Vista? Anything with decent conditions works for us.

Lago Vista Golf Club is right there. Decent track. Not sure of conditions though.
