Why did we schedule a known triple option team?

I can’t think of any any P5 school would willingly play a team like this.

Straight from O’s mouth, they’ve been working on defending this specific offense which is taking away from Texas prep, on which is what we should have already been focusing.

#1- You're wrong.

#2- There are multiple threads on this already, still on the first page. Post in those.

If we lose to texas because we didn't have the entire summer to prepare for them, we have bigger problems

Clemson played them last year.

How’d Clemson finish again?

The analysts are working on Texas and the coaches and players have spent all summer watching Texas film and peeping mentally for that game.

Also focusing on the week 2 opponent before week 1 is a good way to lose week 1.

That's what happens when you have an athletic director like Alleva. His cancerous legacy will stain the program for a couple more years until Woodward's impact fully takes grasp.

Make lemonade. Should help with our recognition, containment, and tackling.

well, GSU played Clemson last year who won a natty, they played Auburn 2 years ago who won the west that year beating UGA and Bama, Bama played the Citadel last year who runs the triple option, Oklahoma played Army last year, do you need any more examples?

The triple option has been used in varying forms since the 1960's (at least). LSU has faced multiple triple option opponents (most notably Georgia Tech) in the last decade and has had success against them because we have generally had really fast and disciplined defenses (which is all it really takes to beat a triple option attack when the opposing team is out-matched from a talent standpoint).

Ed O said they're working on their game plan versus GA Southern. He never said anything about it "taking away" time from the Texas game plan.

So we should be focusing on the week 2 game in week 1? That's stupid.

You know, you say this, but I'm going to jump in here now.

THIS IS SOMEONE'S JOB to get right. And they didn't. PERIOD.

In this highly competitive age of football and as much money that is up for grabs, it's important that they get scheduling right. LSU absolutely should have a warm up game that is going to help them prepare for the SEC. Scheduling should be strategic and a lot of thought put into it.

Yes, there are only so many parts of it that you can control.... BUT CONTROL THEM. Every little thing matters.

I seem to recall years ago the narrative when playing a team like Georgia Tech (famous triple option) early on was that it actually benefited the defense throughout the year since they needed to focus on fundamentals and assignment football against that type of offense.

I actually remember reading before the season after we slaughtered Georgia Tech in the bowl game that the preparation for their triple option in that bowl game was great for the defense. It exposed holes and got them familiar with different looks.
