That’s outside of my AO.
Bout the best I can recommend anywhere near the Energy Corridor would be Phoenicia.
If he has a car or willing to Uber closer to the city then his options are much better.

B.B Italia on memorial just inside the Beltway. City Centre area has the aformentioned Pappadeaux’s and Pappasitos. State Fare is pretty good too. There is a Niko Niko’s at I-10 at the beltway (I don’t like or eat Greek so good luck). We like Jonathan’s the Rub. steaks, pasta, very diverse menu.

And if you're around there, go to Sayad instead of Phoenicia for a meal.
Dimassi's for being a buffet is also really solid if you want variety and quantity.
Brett's BBQ on Mason is best BBQ in the corridor area.
Lupe tortilla on hwy 6 is solid.
There are plenty options at City centre for food and drinks. Wednesday half price whiskey at Radio Milano.
