I’m thinking of planning a trip about a year out. Has anyone here ever traveled down to Patagonia area? If so where did you fly into and what was your path like. Looking for suggestions. TIA

Actually just booked my trip yesterday! My daughter gets Mardi Gras week plus the following Monday off, so a ten-day trip to Argentina. Going to spend two days at Iguazu Falls, and then the rest in Argentine Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
I have been to the Chilean side of Northern Patagonia, which they usually call the Lake District, and it was very pretty. Volcan Osorno, the falls of Petrohue, and Lakes LLanquihue and Todos los Santos. Interesting German heritage culture around Lake Llanquihue.

I went last year, let me know what questions you have. It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I should have a trip review somewhere in my post history.
My flight path: JFK>EZE, once in Buenos Aires for a few days I did AEP (regional airport) to El Calafate (FTE) in Patagonia. That's a good place to explore the major sites in Patagonia.

Did you rent a car? How are the roads/services?

There is an excellent trip review on here. Maybe 2 of them.

I took bus services to the major locations in Patagonia. The roads are pretty sketchy, but I'm sure you would be fine renting a car. El Calafate was within a few hours of:
-Perito Moreno glacier
-El Chalten
-Torres del Paine (Chile)

Same. I would love to do an overland trip in a land cruiser
