They might be eyeballing a payroll tax cut, but note how WAPO words the headline. They are still trying to talk us into a recession.

Show me any signs of a weakening economy. They aren't there.

They talked us into the last one, at the end of Bush's time. Things were not that bad , then all of a sudden the media launches a doom and gloom campaign.

They also let clinton lie about Bush I's economy unchallenged, was nowhere close to the "worst economy in 50 years". It was actually expanding by the election.

Note the date of this NYT article:

https://www.nytimes.com/1992/05/11/us/1992-campaign-economy-despite-recession-s-end-bush-may-face-unusually-harsh.html

and the quote from it:

"THE 1992 CAMPAIGN: The Economy; Despite Recession's End, Bush May Face Unusually Harsh Public Judgment"

He "faced harsh judgment" because the NYT and the rest didn't mention this too often between this article and the election.

and yet with that treatment the Bushes STILL kiss the media's arse

You are high as a 9th life if you think things “werent that bad” at the end of bush’s 2nd term. The bottom completely fell out.
