He’s right. They have turned getting to an LSU game a nightmare of a hassle.

The main issue i have in his article and really the only thing is probably being pissed about showing up at 2 for a 6:30 kickoff and bitching about parking way out. For big games you’ve got to get there much much earlier than 3 hours before the gates open. It’s been that way forever.

A season pass is what, around $300? Not a lot if you're already spending several thousand for tickets. Worth it to know you have a space reserved. Parking for free within an easy walk to the stadium ain't happening, Woodward or no Woodward. It's a dead duck. And for the tailgaters who don't even go to the games, I give zero fricks about their having to park in some remote corner of the campus. Buy a season ticket and a parking pass.

Im pretty sure hes saying the guy tried to get there much earlier but after it took him a while to find a spot and then walk from that far away spot to his tailgate he didnt show up until 2.

I live almost 3 hours away. It makes no sense for me to buy season tickets. I try to make at least 2 games a season and have to buy them on the secondary market. The most efficient way for me to do that is to buy tickets on campus right before the game.

It pretty much forces me to park on the outskirts of campus.

Your method isn’t bad for someone buying season tickets but not all of us can do that.

Think about this... they(started with skip) managed to frick up one of the very best things LSU has to offer. LSU football tailgating.

All bc of greed and the almighty dollar.

Well honcho, they don't have enough reserved spots for every season ticket holder so that's model won't work.

It kinda reads like "there is such a big crowd that nobody goes, anymore".

Says "stands are empty because people can't get in"..then says, 'day pass lots sell out' and 'if we park on the West, it adds 2 hours to get out'..well, if no one is there, why is the time so large to get out.

Look, I get it. But, LSU EXPANDED the seating in the stadium. Was it easier to get in and out when there was less development in the area and seating capacity was 65K? Of course.

That is true of a great many things. Talk to people that drive to 30A area of Florida to see if the experience is the same (for example)

Development adds people, cars, and traffic lights along the corridor, adding 40K seats adds more people and cars to contend with, etc.

I do not think there is some "LSU admin" answer to this. It is the new normal. We will ALWAYS look back at the past and say "it was simpler / easier / better then". Such is life. I am not suggesting there cannot be improvements. I am saying they will be marginal improvements no matter what is implemented.

There is still nothing better than the experience of the crowd that is into a game at Tiger Stadium

Good article. The reporter traces his experience back to 2006. Well, I can trace mine back to 1966 from which time the point gets magnified. I still go to all games though.

Well, not to kill this argument but LSU tailgating was at it's best when the stadium held 92K. They added right at 10K seats and took parking away all over campus. Then the few free lots are slowly becoming reserved lots every year.

Here's an example. We've been tailgating at the corner of S. Stadium and Forestry ln. for 30+ years. The removal of the building in front of CEBA and the renovation to become Patrick F. Taylor Hall took away tons of street parking and a few utility lots that were used to park on game days. It's not 1000 spots but it was at least 100-150 parking spots just gone. That's the type of stuff happening all over campus.

I live over 3 hours away and have season tickets and I go to every game except on very very rare conditions when I can't make it.

As if getting wasted in a parking lot isn't an every day activity in S Louisiana.
If you're going to the game, go to the whole game.
I've never understood who wear LSU head to toe and can't manage to actually watch the game because of their alcohol problem,

Are you regularly working 12 hour days 7 days a week from August through October?

Because I am. Football coincides with the busiest 3 months of the year for me. The only time I can make a football game before November is when I have a surprise day off.

I’m not buying season tickets to only be able to attend a month worth of football.

Seating has increased over the last 40 years by approximately 35,000 seats....

at the same time, parking has decreased exponentially, how much of the parking that you see in this picture is there anymore?

public transit options have gone away as well...there used to be a gameday train to/from New Orleans that brought somewhere between 600-1000 people

you used to be able to get good bus service from downtown BR to Tiger Stadium as well
