We just saw Josh Gattis (only one year as WR coach and co-OC) being fought over as an OC hire by Bama, Maryland, and Michigan.

THAT is exactly the point. Genaric OC's are available. Spread/RPO OCs are not.

Could some other OC have managed it? Probably so, but this combo seems to be working great.
based on what?
Can it work out? Yeah, sure.
but to say it seems to be working great, when LSU has played exactly 0 games with them on staff, is blind optimism at its peak.

Considering almost all spread teams run RPOs at this point.
Kendall Briles
David Yost
Mike Yurcich
I’d strongly consider Graham Harrell, if you wanna y’all a guy who ticks all the boxes:
Record breaking playing career in elite system? Check
NFL Experience? Check
Play calling experience? Check
Successful small school offense? Check
He’s basically on the Kingsbury track.
Also if we want to get ahead of the curve: need to get Bryce Petty in as a GA

So in other words Brady is calling the plays.

quote:Calling plays from obsolete playbooks? Agree. No scarcity.
But there's not some scarcity of play-callers.
Calling plays from a leading edge Spread/RPO playbook. Yes, indeed. There is absolutely a severe shortage.

define the parameter "easy to hire".

But you just said that the spread RPO is the dominant scheme in CFB. So how can it be the dominant scheme while at the same time there's a shortage of play-callers?

Nothing I’ve heard makes me think Ensminger is still the OC. He may have the title, and he’s gonna call plays on Saturdays, but Brady is the guy behind everything.

Not already locked in to a fat contract at a Power-5 school. Most OCs are looking for an HC spot as their next career move. Damn few will make a lateral move.

I've never seen people get so giddy about handing the keys of the offense over to a guy that has never been an OC and was a minor assistant on the Saints staff.
We've got this genius claiming that the best possible scheme for Burrow's skill set is the E&Brady situation. The guy has literally never coached LSU in a football game and him and Ensminger coaching the offense is already the best possible scheme for Burrow.
People already exclaiming that the guy that has never been an OC in his life will be the OC in a year or two. We know this without him ever coaching LSU in an actual football game in his life.
People, stop drinking the retard juice.

Still, Sammy gave you 4 names that could be hired today if we wanted them. We'll even discard Kendal Briles since he's "toxic."
So we're left with 3 names. What's wrong with Yost, Yurcich or Harrell?

Good coaches come from everywhere. Time to start paying attention

I am Excited for Brady.
I am Also not going to pretend he was the only option.
But he was the best option given that E wasn’t going anywhere.
