For those who may not be aware, Atlanta United is a very successful and popular soccer club. Frank De Boer is the manager. He is Dutch, no nonsense and no BS, with the personality of a very dry piece of toast.

He was asked a question on equal pay and responded with a very rational, clear opinion.
quote:

"I think for me, it's ridiculous. It's the same like tennis. If there are watching, for the World Cup final, 500 million people or something like that, and 100 million for a women's final, that's a difference. So it's not the same. And of course they have to be paid what they deserve to [earn] and not less, just what they really deserve. If it's just as popular as the men, they will get it, because the income and the advertising will go into that. But it's not like that, so why do they have to earn the same? I think it's ridiculous. I don't understand that."

quote:

"I think it started because a woman [was] getting underpaid, especially at [managerial] positions," he told the newspaper. "They have to earn the same as a man. I think if you have a manager position for a bank or something, you have to earn the same what the men did because it's not physically, just only here [points to head], so why do you have to earn less, because you're doing the same job as a man? I think that's also dropped a little bit into the sports world, like tennis and soccer. But I think that's still different."

He was asked his opinion and he gave it in a calm, dry, reasoned explanation.

Now he is about to see how such rationality has no place in today’s realm of emotion and feelings.

This is from espn which proceeds to say how De Boer is a pig and wrong in everything he said. Not linking them.

He’ll apologize and blame it on his poor mastery of the English language.

In soccer parlance, is a manager an administrative position or a coach?

Well, he's obviously not fit to coach a soccer team, or really to have any sort of job. He must be fired immediately and not ever hired for anything ever again. And if he were to apologize, that just shows that he knows what he said was wrong and that he shouldn't have said it yet did anyways, which REALLY means he's unfit to coach.

Will they propose boycotting Atlanta, much like they did over the abortion thing?

ATL subReddit seems to be defending him. They are batshit leftist too.

ATL SGs are actually more upset about the crackdown on political posters/flag at the game on Sunday. They are not going to focus on FdB, but the FO.
