They should call his bluff. Make him signed a notarized document saying he can use his old helmet but if he takes a single snap with it on, he loses all opportunity to sue the league for head related injuries,forever.
He's going to blow all his cash, so when he's broke at 50, he'll have no opportunity to then sue the league for more.
