It's not really the same just because it's people hunting people.

This new movie is complete Leftist bullshite.

It portrays rich capitalists/corporatists as over-privileged ego-maniacal gun-toting murderers preying on red-staters who they portray as all white hillbilly racists who deserve to die.

On top of this, the "Evil Elitists" are commanded by an "arse-kicking woman", and the "Evil Racists" are also led by an "arse-kicking woman" with ninja skills who can apparently beat the shite out of every man she encounters.

And after all the white men die, these two women duke it out for the Crown of Evilness. And we don't know the ending yet, but I'm betting everyone dies, even the protagonist.

This movie is a Progressive's wet dream.

And this is different from Lance (Bishop) Hendrickson, leader of a wealthy group of men who hunt people they think won't be missed in society?

Original OP was correct. This is the same basic plot, a remake hoping for a Hunger Games audience to turn out.
