What's worse is pretentious people on ANY type of trip that stubbornly refuse to eat anywhere that's not unique to that location.

It's not a big deal.

This is when I know to ignore people in threads like this.
I'm not saying everyone needs to do fine dining as an alternative. Sometimes a chain is fine.
Quit being defensive about simple people who are scared of trying something a little different.

Saddest thing I heard recently at work. Contractor project manager who spends a lot of time all over the country was working for us on a job in southeast La. We get back to work on a Monday and just talking with each other about the weekend. Homie says he took his old lady into New Orleans for dinner at Landry's. This was a 45 mile drive and he passed up on probably 400 better places along the way and in Nola.

agreed. There are some serious food snobs around here.
