Looking to go on vacation this fall and have read nothing but good things about taking a vacation to Jackson Hole in the fall time. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do or where to stay while visiting?

jackson the town is just a place to stay...think gatlinburg for rich people. the magic is in the mountains and parks
yellowstone NP & grand tetons obviously but there is beautiful scenery and outdoor activities all around there. get outside and you'll have a blast

This has been my favorite family vacation since I was a kid, and I still love visiting, but never been in the fall. Bring warm clothes/layers and waterproof hiking shoes in anticipation of snow.
I highly recommend splitting time between staying in the town of Jackson for 2-3 nights and staying in the Teton national park 2-3 nights. Snow King Resort in Jackson is nice and has activities for the kids. Jackson Lake lodge in the park is great, and more reasonably priced than Jenny Lake lodge. Some people like staying in the Jackson Hole ski resort, but you can just drive there to visit, and staying in town and the park is a better option, IMO.
Enjoy

It’s the land where the BILLIONAIRES play. Absolutely stunning. The Tetons are incredible. Lots of stuff for couples and families, whatever your situation is.

Jackson Hole is fantastic in the fall, just be careful because after mid September stuff starts to shut down. The national parks get very limited hours in October, the Gondola in Teton Village stops running Sept 29th until Thanksgiving, etc.
You can still have more then enough activities for a week or less stay. But I generally recommend going in September over October so you don't miss out on anything.
November is dead. Early November and late October can be great if it doesn't snow but tons of stuff is not open.

quote:Stayed there last year. Magnificent accommodations and just hop to downtown and a short drive to the GTNP. Yellowstone more a a long day trip or just find a hotel in that park.
Snow King Resort in Jackson is nice

FWIW I prefer to stay in Teton Village but I'm extremely bias as my FIL owns a place there. I also haven't shopped rates for staying the night so in the town of Jackson may be much better. The town of Jackson is just a small western town, pretty much do the whole town in a day or half day. Everything outside of a horseback trip and fishing is to your north and most well to the North. The Snow King Resort Hotel is nice.
Teton Village is more centrally located in the valley. You are literally at the gate of GTNP for hiking and mountain biking, etc. The village has quite a few activities and restaurants right there. Take the Gondola to the top for a beer and apps or dinner, and the view. Hike around, etc. Much more hiking straight out of Teton Village or 5-15 mins away easier.
A place that is never mentioned online is Jackson Lake Lodge and Colter Bay Lodge. Both at the far northern section of the Grand Tetons, well north of them technically. There's nothing else that way at all, like literally nothing basically. So it would definitely be 2 places to stay the night in lodging that are closed to each other with nothing else within 30-60 minutes.
ETA: Let us know what age your group is and what you are looking to do. I've been out there with kids under 5 and on adult trips. Plenty to do for everyone.

You have the choice between Jackson and Teton Village. I would stay in Jackson, you can walk to dinner or breakfast, but there’s nothing wrong with the village.
As far as activities. There’s hiking, fishing, biking, horse back rides, trips up into the parks. Paragliding off the mountain. If you and your family are outdoorsy, it’s a great place to visit.
First snow will happen either in late August or early September. Real snow hits in October.
