Has anyone been to Grand Ridge recently? I've never played there but greens fees are incredibly cheap. What kind of condition is it usually in, and are there any courses in the New Orleans area that you could compare it to? (As far as upkeep, quality of fairways, greens etc.)

Greens in good shape but fairways are still a work in progress. They’re moving in the right direction and worth the green fee, especially the hot deals.

I have not played it recently, but have driven past it. The greens looked nice. Management has cut out lots of trees to help the grass in the fairways grow, so there are some rough spots between the tees and greens.
For a little more money, you can go to Cypress Lakes in Destrehan. It is usually in better shape and the fairways are not as tight.

Played a scramble there a month ago. Greens are in great shape. Doing some repairs to a few fairways so there’s some sand covering where they dug piping. But overall it’s in good shape to play. Fun course.

New ownership has been doing a ton of work. Dramatically improved draining, digging out ponds, and taking out trees to allow more grass to grow.
Still some work to do on tee boxes and some fairways, but greens have been rolling fantastic and most fairways are substantially better than they've been in a decade.
Tight course, still many many trees. Have to be able to shape shots to score...

Played in mid-June for the first time, and enjoyed it. As others have said, greens were in great shape and you can tell they are working to improve the fairways. Very old school tight driving holes. It's worth the relatively cheap green fees, in my opinion.

Playing there in September for their annual guest scramble. Grew up there. The guy running the show now is definitely pumping money into it and trying to make it better.

I played Grand Ridge on 8/9/19.
It is in pretty good shape. Most of the greens are nice. They did have some ground under repair on the greens of holes
5, 9, and 10. But the greens are large enough to have the flag away from the GIR.
The fairways and drainage are better. They have removed a lot of trees and the is helping with grass growth. The was some areas being sodded on #2.
Hole ##14 had temporary tees. They are working on the pond in front of it.
The course isnt the best in the area, but it is fairly cheap and they are investing in the course to get it better.
