Curious about opinions on Clemson

I'm a life long LSU fan that currently attends Clemson headed into my senior year. When I first showed up to school, I didn't think there was any way I'd ever have as much love for Clemson FB as I did for LSU. I don't think Clemson will ever be my #1 team, but the culture here has completely convinced me to buy into what Clemson is selling. What gets me the most is the fact that Dabo is so easy to root for. He seems to be just as much in the business of building character in young men as he does in coaching them. I think that's one of the main reasons that so many highly ranked recruits are committing, and why his staff doesn't have crazy turnover like Saban.
I've seen some mixed opinions about Clemson in different threads, and I'm curious what the LSU community's straight up opinion is on Clemson. At the very least I think the majority of you think they are a lesser evil than bama, but I would love to hear more.
All that being said, I still bleed purple and gold and always will. Baton Rouge will always have the better death valley and

I don't care about them unless we play them. That's all I've got.

Les and Chavis helped usher in the golden era of Clemson football.

A Clemson basketball assistant was caught on an FBI wiretap discussing the recruitment of Duke star Zion Williamson, according to reports from the ongoing federal trial.
Tigers assistant coach Steve Smith also was recorded talking about Clemson’s national championship football program in wiretaps played in a New York courtroom.
Regarding coach Dabo Swinney’s Clemson football program, Smith was recorded saying, “That’s why football is so successful, is if you do it and use resources at Clemson, like you can really keep everything tight.”
In another statement on the wiretap, Smith said of Clemson: “It’s a small college town … You can come to a game one night, after the game you see a dude out there in a nice looking suit, you like, wait a minute now.”
Clemson is as dirty or more than the rest. Don’t let Dabo’s act fool you.

Ahh, to be young an naive.
No doubt that Dabo is a charismatic guy. But don't think that Clemson isn't playing the same high dollar game as the rest of the powerhouse programs. The difference is they are doing in a league where their competitors don't care enough to play the same game at that level. Or to put it another way, Clemson is a program with SEC-level passion (and the desire to spend SEC level money) that doesn't have to regularly compete with like-minded programs.
Dabo was on his way out until he made the shrewd hire of Chad Morris. That changed the trajectory of the program and it's been uphill since. With the winning came more money.
Certainly Clemson and Dabo deserve a ton of credit for their success. Buy they are a big fish playing in a small pond. In the SEC alone programs like Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, A&M, Auburn, Tennessee ALL have the passion and willingness to spend outrageous amounts of money to try to be the best. Not all of those teams can win in the SEC. No one in the ACC rivals Clemson's willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Clemson. Dabo has built that program from the bottom up and did it with a lot of 3 star kids. They are on a different level now in recruiting but it wasn't always that way. Another sign of how strong a program they have is very few coaches leave there and not many programs can say that. As a college football fan, you have to respect what they are doing!

So based off of that post, then you must think Orgeron is as dirty or more than the rest as well correct?

Stockholm Syndrome. It's not your fault.

What’s your obsession with Orgeron? Talking about Dabo here. Go back to the 100 page bitchfest about O.

You just made a long post, pointing out that a Clemson basketball coach was caught on wire tap, and then came to the conclusion from it that Dabo is dirty because of that.
Using that logic, then you should believe Orgeron is also dirty, because Wade was caught on wiretap.
I have no obsession with Orgeron, I'm just pointing out your extreme hypocrisy, because I know damn well you won't say O is dirty because Wade was called out on some recruiting BS.

You mean the thread I've posted ZERO times in?

I, too, have a lot of respect for Clemson.
We have a habit of looking down our noses at Clemson, but it is out recruiting us and out performing us in football and will for the next couple of years. It is also a far superior academic institution, which helps recruiting and helps with alumni giving.
One day, The Rant will realize that having a great school is as important, if not more so, than having a great football team.

Clemson is slowly becoming the powerhouse in CFB over bama. There’s no denying they are currently the best team in CFB.
Like another poster said, no problems with Clemson until LSU has to play them and I do like Dabo, but he isn’t the main reason kids go there. They go there because Clemson is at the top. They want to win. They want to make sure all eyes are on them for a shot at the NFL. It’s not a coincidence the two best teams in college football also have the two best recruiting classes.

I don't hate them or like them. Dabo seems like a good guy.

Saban is a d&$k who's staff and players likely can't stand the 6 months of hell he puts them through season after season... Clemson has been impressive. I'd take Clemson over Bama any day. Bama's clock is ticking.

Clemson hit the jackpot when they hired Dabo. He has a lot of energy and enthusiasm and built the program. Facilities are top notch with a 55 million dollar practice facility. The ACC does not have the same commitment to winning like the SEC so Clemson plays 2 tough games a year which puts them in the playoff every single year which helps. Barring losing Dabo to Bama, they are not going anywhere.

Dude. There’s no reason you can’t like both schools equally. Don’t listen to the haters on here and cheer for both. Don’t be conflicted about it. Pretty awesome to be at a school when a team is dominant. I have great memories of LSU baseball winning it all twice when I was a student.

I don't really have an opinion on Clemson one way or the other besides the fact that I'm impressed with what they've built there.
Posted on 7/30/19 at 9:56 am to Tiger_x2
Nope. Just nope. You don't get to root for two teams just because you went to a school that wins championships and sucked you in.
Also, give the Clemson turnover thing some time. Once he starts to lose his assistants, the dominoes fall regularly like they do at Bama.
