Every retail business has a no-intervention policy. This is nothing new.

The losses from stolen inventory are nothing compared to a potential lawsuit or PR hit that would result from someone stopping a thief who would then in return cry racism and media outrage ensues.

Best to just let them off with the stolen inventory.

They should've just gone to Whole Foods.

My area must not have gotten the memo. I see 3-5 shoplifting arrests in the local daily police report. Wal-Mart, Dollar General, and Kohls seem to be the most popular place to get arrested for shoplifting.
