Judge allows lawsuit over blown Saints call, allows Goodell and officials to be questioned

"A lawsuit against the NFL over the outcome of the NFC championship game between the Rams and Saints has been allowed to continue by a judge."
"A lawsuit was filed after the Saints were screwed out of a Super Bowl appearance due to a blown pass interference no-call. It wasn’t just a bad no-call, but it honestly might be remembered as the worst no-call by officials in the history of sports. Now, fans are one step closer to getting payback as attorney Antonio LeMon seeks $75,000 in damage."
A Louisiana judge ruled Thursday that a damage lawsuit can continue against the NFL over the playoff “no-call” that helped the Los Angeles Rams beat the New Orleans Saints and advance to the Super Bowl.
"State Civil District Court Judge Nicole Sheppard also ruled that attorney Antonio “Tony” LeMon can request documents and ask questions of NFL officials. LeMon said that means he will be able to question Commissioner Roger Goodell and three game officials in depositions about the lack of a penalty — pass interference or roughness — against Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman for his helmet-to-helmet hit on receiver Tommylee Lewis well before a pass arrived."
"It’s mind-boggling how bad of a no-call that was, and it’s only made worse by the fact there was an official standing right there!"
"The refs couldn’t have been any better positioned! It was such an embarrassing moment for the league."
"The idea of Goodell being questioned is downright hilarious. He’s the most powerful man in all of sports, and now he might have to entertain questions over a single (call) from one game."
"The precedent set by this is incredible. I hope people sue left and right just to annoy the hell out of Goodell. You just hate to see it! It couldn’t happen to a better person."

The saints fan in me thinks this is fricking awesome
The citizen of america that values judicial precedent in me thinks this is fricking dumb
Seeing Goodell on the stand having to answer questions about it...totally worth it

This is totally stupid. The judge needs to look into a mirror. Perhaps judges can be sued for making wrong decisions in court.

I wish we would just drop this shite.

I would love to see the jury selection for this....

It was an obvious horrible no-call. Inexcusable, But don’t expect a lot to come out of this lawsuit. It’s interesting and a little surprising that the judge seems to feel there exists an individual right/ cause of action available go this plaintiff. I’d be interested to see the pleadings filed so far. There may be an initial round of discovery conducted, but I don’t expect anything very juicy to come out, and I doubt the case will survive future motions for very long. But I’ve seen some wild shite in La. courts, so you never know for ire.

$75k? They could buy everyone in the 500 sections a beer at the home opener with that kind of loot.

Good. Nothing will ever change the result of that game, but the more negativity towards Goodell and the NFL the better.
Keep bringing it up. Force them to talk about it. Force them to take responsibility for it. frick em.

Will be reversed when the NFL takes a writ to the Fourth Circuit.

Well... they’re definitely not letting us get to the SuperBowl now

The call is so bad that a "male performance" clinic references it in their ads in Phoenix.
Pass interference, helmet to helmet, targeting(college only?). All in one.
Lest we forget the PI on the interception in the overtime drive as well.
