Custom/engraved heirloom or cool old classic shotgun as a gift

I'd like to get my godson a shotgun for his graduation, birthday, and a few other things he helps me with. Not sure what my budget would be. He has a benelli pump and a beretta A400. I was thinking of something like an older shotgun or maybe a classic looking A5.
Not sure if you can purchase one engraved or purchase it and have it engraved.

Finding a good condition wingmaster from the year he was born would be cool.

Your on the right track. Might feel him out as to what older guns he thinks are cool and run with it, surreptitiously of course.

You can find anything on gunbroker

The single most important thing about shotguns is they need to fit the shooter correctly.
If you want older, I suggest a Browning Superposed, preferably in 20 gauge.
For new, I recommend a Beretta O/U.
Again fit is most important!

If you get a gun and want to have engraving put on it, the blueing will have to be removed and reapplied after the metal is cut. There are a couple of engraving Facebook groups, if you are interested in going down this path.

If he’s any kind of outdoorsman at all, I’m sure he would be absolutely thrilled with an older Belgian Browning A5. The Light Twelves are already nicely engraved.
ETA: my stepdad gave me his made in the 50’s before his passing earlier this year. And it is the favorite gun in my collection.
