**Official Fire Emblem: Three Houses Thread/July 26th Release Date**

For the 1.5 people on this board that have played 1 or more game’s in the series.
A few notes on the game per developers and some reviews:
- Per the developer Intelligent Systems and co-developer Team Ninja, one path has roughly 80 hours of gameplay. If you combine the 3 paths as alternate and different takes on the game’s overarching story, that means you’re talking about a theoretical 240 hours of extended gameplay.
- It’s pretty much common knowledge at this point that there’s a timeskip since it was revealed at E3 so I don’t have to worry about spoilers here. Reviewers are reporting the pre-timeskip if you take your time absorbing everything and doing all the side quests that it takes around 40 hours.
- Dual audio for the elitists out there.
IGN review - “Fire Emblem is kind of a Persona game now.”
LuckyCrit - Fire Emblem: Three Houses and series overview.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Only on Nintendo Switch.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses Full Main Theme

I got the collectors edition ordered. Going to be one of the best games of the year.

I've only played part of Awakening and part of PoR. The games were always just too fracking big for me.
But I will buy this Day 1 and attempt to make it through again. I look for nooks and cranny's so big games with a lot of content I often rarely finish. I get stuck on min-maxing or finding everything.
I'm excited. It looks so good.

Definitely grabbing it as well. The subreddit has been trash lately so it’s good to see some updates elsewhere.

The only fire emblem games I've played were on console, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, and I loved them.
After reading more and more about this game, it sounds nothing like the two games I've played other than there are battles on a grid-based battlefield. I'm not even sure if I have any interest in playing this game at all. Entirely too heavy on micro managing, which sounds like it's literally half the game or 40 hours worth of content, before the real game even starts.

Intelligent Systems is taking on another rather divisive route in the series. If anyone in this thread or that comes in this thread has played Persona, you can expect a pretty decent portion of the story to just be you doing Joker things. Making yourself as OP as possible before shite starts getting real later on in the game.
Some of the negatives of the game seem to be the graphical fidelity is a bit whack and the art direction is very different from previous entries. Intelligent Systems seems dead set on making Fire Emblem more RPG like and balance the grid combat with slice of life type elements. But you have to remember this game does have a lot of firsts.
It’s really the first time the series has hit that “perfect storm” where the game is now popular (unlike it used to be), it’s on a MAIN line console (not home console...don’t confuse the two), as well as it’s being marketed VERY heavily. It’s never had the benefit of all three at one time, let alone 2. As of 2 days ago, FE3H was the #1 selling game on Amazon and yesterday I believe it was #4 and stuck there. I really don’t doubt this game will probably sell upwards of about 3-4 million units across digital and physical. And that’s only the first year IMO. Fates and Awakening which were by far the best selling in the west for multiple reasons, both hovered around 2 million after the first 2-3 years in the shelves. You should only expect Fire Emblem from here on out to be as prevalent in Nintendo media as any Zelda or Mario media. JMO.

As a new fan of both series, I'm excited to hear.

Yup.
And this is a good thing as FE represents a pretty complex genre/game to balance against Nintendo's lighter stuff.

Who downvotes a FE thread?

I'm not very hyped for this to be honest. Some of the school/house stuff seems kinda dumb, but I always love Fire Emblem so I've got it preordered.
Hoping to enjoy it as I haven't been playing my Switch too much outside of random Smash with friends.

Not a big spoiler, but........SPOILER I guess....
The Time Jump happens at 10 hours in, so I think the previews are weighing the school piece more than they really need to so they don't show too much of the post jump stuff honestly. You aren't doing the school stuff for 40 of the 80 hours, THEN playing the "Real game" for the last 40. Most likely the school stuff is more like an elongated character customization sequence with a few battles.

I have always been intrigued by this series, but never had a DS system to play. I may have to pick this up soon. Whats the short version of this game/series?

It used to be just a strategical RPG until the 3DS games changed it up and revived the series so-to-speak. What they brought with them are more light novel/slice of life elements to add to the SRPG gameplay, which is stuff like character bonds/links and cutscenes associated with them. Think the Persona 3-5 social link system in a FE game and voila.

I preorder the game 2 weeks ago. Super excited, I actually don't mind the changes they have made to the games recently and this one looks like it'll be much much better than fates, but then again that's not very high a bar

Yeah, Fates was pretty disappointing with how good Awakening and Echoes were. I think this game will correct a lot of issues with Fates and have much more replayability. Hyped.

Fates concept was actually pretty nice. But they went terrible directions at pivotable moments and some design choices were just god awful. But they seemed to have toned them down in this game.
