No not really. I literally am a living example. My last 2 jobs said told me after i hired, its more about the interview than any piece of paper.

You need the piece of paper, and some experience, to get the interview in the first place.

your anecdotal experience aside, you gave really bad advice. your experience is not the norm, and the whole point of the thread is how to get someone from 0 to an IT job. Half of that battle is getting the interview - and certs are incredibly valuable to that process.
