I've seen several backups on the westbound side around Breaux Bridge in the last few months.

But is that because of the construction and subsequent wrecks?

Also, wasn’t it determined that this stretch of interstate needed to be redone and they just decided to make it 3 lanes while they are at it?

It absolutely needed to be redone. That stretch was in horrible shape. The complaints about it being done just make no sense to me.

Well, I do. People all complain about the roads, but want the roads they used to be fixed first. Anything else is necessary

The construction related backups are due more to rubbernecking or just two 18 wheelers blocking up both lanes than wrecks. The plan was always to widen it to three lanes. That stretch of road is deemed to be a high traffic trucking corridor and they got some federal money for it.
