Connecting Surface 2 to two monitors

I have an older Surface (I believe it's the 2) and I am trying to display on two monitors. I currently have it set up for one monitor with a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI adapter (see first picture). Would a MiniDisplay Port to Dual HDMI adapter (second picture) allow me to do this?
Seems like I'm missing something or is it actually that simple?

You can get a surface dock. Would probably be your best bet

Yes it works although the one I have is very temperamental. I often have to press the reset button on the adapter.
Or fix the display settings because it only wants to recognize 1 or 2 monitors and not 3 total (including your surface itself as a monitor.)
