When I look to hire someone I’m looking to upgrade for the spot I’m filling. Like another poster said, a good crew will make you shine. I was prompted from the workgroup and I’m always evaluating my team to see if there’s a possible “the next me” in the group. Being able to promote someone from your team makes you even look better

I'm having a similar issue with my direct superior. It's definitely not on purpose, because he's awesome and nobody can take his place. But man his batting average on hires is bad.
Although I can't speak too harshly. I've vouched for a few duds myself the last couple of years. You have to Wade through a lot of turds in this market.

Yeah. My testing social cues weeds out those who are nervous. My math test question weeds out the dummies. I still had a younger black girl pull one over on me though.
Brilliant, personable, and came up with well thought out explanations for questions with no answer. Clean not gaudy car.
Went full ghetto two weeks in.

I don’t understand this. You are absolutely correct but I just don’t understand how some people are so bad at this. I interview every other quarter for work and one of the other managers had to be asked to stop interviewing because he would literally pick all the worst candidates and have the top candidates at the bottom. The other managers and I would always have to spend extra time documenting why the idiot managers top candidate was our bottom candidate.
Good/sad thing is this manager is a nice guy but always made fun of millennials and avocado toast and he is the one who just got the severance/retirement package.
