I think Ricks coming in from Cali and balling as a true freshman will have a much greater positive impact on our in roads to Cali than kindly telling a dude like Berry (nothing personal to the guy) to explore his options would have a negative impact

How likely is that? He will be competing with Jefferson (maybe), Chase, Marshall, Palmer, Lee & Jenkins.
How likely is it that he cracks the top 4 as a freshman?

Bottom line is, these are nice problems to have. Much better than desperately trying to get player "X" to commit at the last minute or scramble to find another recruit when the guy you wanted commits elsewhere days before signing day.

have you seen that one specific HS's next couple of classes? they have some very, very good prospects coming out of that HS the next couple of years... getting Berry is more about building a relationship with that school for the next couple of classes, not just about getting a random DT from Cali...
like i said, that's a bridge they don't want to burn, because you go back on your word with this kid, you can absolutely forget about any kid from that school, and probably a lot of others around there for a while...
