I hear this a lot and don't get it. There are certainly better products out there, but WD40 is better than nothing. It's all I ever used up until just a few years ago...just like my father and his father before him.

Out of curiosity, why?

When I buy a used gun, I hose it down in wd40, flean it with a tooth brush and paper towels, then give it a light spray down with dupont Teflon or a wipe down with motul spray grease... Depending on app.

The dupont Will destroy wood, so that has to be kept in mind. But it works wonders in ARs and AKs
