Baton Rouge really isnt as bad as some of yall make it out to be. I know I mostly enjoyed my time there.

It's a mid sized college town which doesn't appeal to everyone but plenty of people live just fine in the area.

It’s not a bad area if you’re settled down. Southdowns, Garden District, and any area by the lakes would be a nice spot to live. It’s pretty boring if you’re single and not in undergrad though

I'm in my 40s and married with kids. My wife and I make a good living here. But yeah we aren't exactly out at bars and stuff like that very often.

You live in Baton Rouge so you can be close to your plant job.

Roads as bad as Nola (Essen is the worst road in the South)

Well you obviously haven't been to Baton Rouge in over a year. Essen was completely re-done. Its like driving on glass right now.

In fact, I've noticed BR has actually done a great job the last 6 months with fixing the shittiest roads in the city. Broussard completely repaved, Dalrymple completely repaved, and West Lakeshore completely repaved. Also Government is in the process of being completely redone. Those 4 streets combined probably caused more damage to vehicles than the rest of the city

I moved back in 2009 for a job. I left and went back to Texas after 9 months. BR was a nightmare. Never. Again.

My life revolves around family, work and the outdoors. It's a fine town for all three.

I'm sorry it is miserable for you, but if you have decent means, you can live perfectly fine in BR
